Abu Dhabi Singles, are you Part of the Club?

Being part of the Abu Dhabi singles club can be boring, frustrating and downright depressing.

I've had a few emails asking about dating in Abu Dhabi. Some people are having difficulties meeting someone while others are looking for a picture of the dating scene. My responses are usually negative.

Why its hard.

Meeting other single people in Abu Dhabi is tough, having recently moved to the UK for university I've found the opportunities to be much greater this side of the globe.

There are a number of reasons for this, for example Abu Dhabi is relatively small. Also a lot of Abu Dhabians are conservative because of religious beliefs and therefore simply won't date anyone.

Meeting people is therefore relatively hard, although it's not impossible.

And What to do about it.

There are sites dedicated to single people living in Abu Dhabi. However there are two problems, firstly the forums are packed with male perverts and weirdos. Secondly Etisilat blocks most of them, however there are ways around it.

There are also the more traditional environments for meeting people, for example the work place along with the bars and clubs that inhabit many of the hotels However, the options are still fairly limited so you may have to dig deep to meet someone.

So over all its slim pickings, but that's not to say there isn't a dating scene in Abu Dhabi because there is, it's just relatively small. I'm sure if you give it time and effort you'll find someone.
