Abu Dhabi Newspapers and Magazines.

This picture is broken.

The range of Abu Dhabi newspapers are slightly limited, although a few high standard English publications are available. Prices range from 2-3 dhs and yearly subscriptions help reduce costs if you buy the paper on a regular basis. While the quality of papers has improved over the past few years, some of the smaller publications are still not up to scratch.

Abu Dhabi newspapers are available from all major supermarkets, bookstores and hotels. Some hotels also have papers from other countries, but they're more expensive.

The National

The newest paper on the block and by far the best. It's run by top quality journalists and a former editor of the times. They have plenty of international coverage and a good website allows you to browse their stories online.

Gulf News

A local English newspaper popular among expats with a good business and sports section. It also offers plenty of international news.

Khaleej Times

Another one of the bigger publications and one of the oldest as it was started in 1978. However it's part owned by the government and has reputation of being bias in their favor.

Magazines

Luckily there is a good import of magazines from the UK and America that cater towards English speaking expats, for example publications such as New scientist and the Economist are readily available. You can also get a variety of fashion magazines such as Comso and there's a good selection of gaming and photography magazines as well.

If you want a magazine packed with all the upcoming events in Abu Dhabi then time out is your best bet. It's filled with reviews of restaurants, hotels and other other things to do in Abu Dhabi, making it great for newly arrived expats and tourists alike.

If they're are certain magazines you want but are unable to buy locally a lot magazines are willing to ship them if you have a yearly subscription. If this isn't an option then some people have relatives back home post them.
